CURRENT EMPLOYEE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:

Membership in federal unions is very important. Many employees choose to join their federal union to support it financially so that they can insure that they will be represented in the workplace. Or, the reason many of your co-workers joined – so that your voice will be heard on Capitol Hill through the incredible efforts of the NTEU legislative and lobbying operations.

Many employees wonder what affect they can have on their own future as a single voice. Being a member allows your voice to become part of a very loud chorus.

Your union is your voice. Federal unions were established to protect the interests of federal workers. Whether it is on the job, in the halls of Congress or in any other way that provides results that are to the best benefit for federal workers, and many times the taxpayers, your union is working every day on your behalf.

NTEU National supports any lawmaker, from any party, that has shown they will support federal workers. NTEU doesn’t involve itself in any social issues or national issues unrelated to the benefit of federal workers. Their only interest is on those issues that affect YOU in the federal workplace or in your future retirement issues!

Your co-workers represent you in the workplace. Your union officers, stewards and other employees have volunteered their time to help you. You can help your self by showing your support by becoming a dues-paying member. Your representatives do not get paid for their activities. In fact they sacrifice much.

So please, join NTEU Chapter 207.

Don’t wait until you wish the union could help you. Join NOW while it is helping you in the workplace.

When you wonder why the union isn’t stronger in the workplace you may realize that the only thing missing is YOU!

RETIREE MEMBERSHIPS – PLUS MORE.

RETIREES AND SEPARATED EMPLOYEES MEMBERSHIP SECTION:

Chapter 207 is pleased to announce that we have the largest number of retiree members since it was organized as a chapter back in the early 80’s. (As of June 2006)

We are asked several questions about retiree membership:

Q. Did you have to be a member of NTEU previously to join as a retiree member?
A. No. You could have never joined, you could have been a former member or you could have been a member at retirement.

Q. Can you join as a retiree member if you were a manager or a supervisor?
A. Yes. There are no restrictions on membership after you have retired no matter what your employment status was at retirement or when you resigned.

Q. What is my connection to the union at the local level as a retiree member?
A. Retiree members have rights within the Chapter 207 bylaws to be involved in certain aspects of chapter operations. All retiree members are entitled to vote in matters that affect the chapter – including the elections that select officers.

Q. Must I have “retired” to be allowed to join NTEU as a retiree member?
A. No. If you have left the FDIC and do not work at an agency where NTEU represents federal workers you can join NTEU as a retiree member.

Q. What are the advantages of being an NTEU retiree member?
A. NTEU lobby’s on Capitol Hill on all matters that affect federal workers. Those matters sometimes include benefits that federal employees have and the cost of their health care benefits. Also, NTEU offers benefits that retiree members are interested in, including discounts at nationwide companies (the Jiffy Lube discount is a favorite) and low cost dental care benefits. There are too many benefits to list in response to this question so please contact NTEU for a complete list. You will also receive special important notices and the NTEU Bulletin in the mail each month. If you sign up for special legislative alerts to be sent to your home email address you will be in the know about pending legislation that may affect your retirement. For all matters involving your future retirement comfort – this membership may be the best money you ever spent.

Q. How much do dues cost former employees?
A. $42 dollars annually. The annual amount is pro-rated if membership begins mid-year. After the first year annual billings will be mailed to you. MEMBERSHIP FORM: NTEU Required form for paying directly as a former employee. Follow mailing instructions on the form.

Membership is the lifeblood of any organization. Please join.

Contact: NTEU National Office at 202-572-5500 and ask to speak to someone about membership issues. Or write NTEU from their website at: www.nteu.org

Once your membership is registered with NTEU you will be provided accesses to the NTEU website after you have registered on their on-line registration process.
